We are seeking a Senior Credit Analyst to join our Real Estate Lending team. This is a full-time, in office role based in London, Ontario.
As a Senior Credit Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting the management and growth of our commercial real estate portfolio. You will provide high-quality analytical and underwriting expertise for new and existing accounts, drawing on your industry experience to assess risk and ensure sound credit decisions. In this role, you will be responsible for the timely adjudication of commercial and real estate loan applications. This includes completing credit analyses and evaluating asset values within departmental guidelines and procedures. Primary Responsibilities include:
Support underwriting, account monitoring, and administration.
Provide underwriting support for new credit applications and complex amendments/renewals.
Analyze new transactions and assist in the preparation of deal memos.
Gather requirements of interim reviews and prepare credit memos.
Respond to client inquires and complete site visits as required.
Review underwriting for junior team members, providing feedback and support as necessary.
Analyze third-party reports including, financial statements, rent rolls, appraisals, ESAs and other credit information.
Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures, and that all credit and other risks are adequately identified in credit correspondence and credit structure mitigants are recommended.
Ensuring credit reviews are completed on a timely basis and necessary approvals for extensions are obtained.
Ensuring aspects of increased risk are identified and communicated to the appropriate levels in all instances where potential for credit loss has been identified.
Provide mentoring and assist with training of new and junior team members.
Make recommendations to policies and procedures where either market conditions warrant or operational efficiencies can be realized without increasing business risk.
Work closely with credit administration team to ensure all lending terms and conditions established with borrowing client are adhered to at all times.
Complete special projects and assist in other areas within lending operations as assigned.
Providing analytical and administrative support for special projects as required
Qualifications:
Business degree or related post-secondary education and/or relevant experience.
A minimum of 3 years of direct real estate lending, underwriting, or credit analysis experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong proficiency in financial statement analysis, accounting principles and credit application preparation.
Advanced skills in Excel, Word, and ability to learn new systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and resolve issues as they arise.
High attention to detail and a drive to deliver accurate, high-quality results.
Demonstrated ability to bring sound business judgement to decisions and evaluations.
Responsive to the needs of stakeholders, supported by an acute awareness of the impact of actions.
Mentorship experience with junior level employees considered an asset.
