Reports To: Portfolio Manager/Chief Credit Officer

Position Status: Full-time, Exempt

Position Summary: 
Senior Credit Analysts have a strong background in finance and risk assessment, as they are key players in deciding the level of risk the bank is taking when extending credit. They will be expected to evaluate a customer’s credit background, work with appraisers, support loan officers with analysis, and other tasks that supplement the lending division and bank.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform advanced financial statement analyses, tax return spreading and analysis, and cash flow modeling to support lending decisions.

Prepare and author credit memorandums supporting loan structure, risk assessment, and credit recommendations.

Perform real estate property evaluations.

Support appraisal processes, including coordinating with appraisers, drafting engagement letters, and ordering appraisals to meet required timelines.

Support loan portfolio monitoring, including tracking and resolving loan tickler expectations.

Assist with preparation of problem loan reports and asset improvement plans.

Support construction loan administration and monitoring.

Assist loan officers with file management to adhere to legal, regulatory and industry standards for audits, reviews, and exams.

Coordinate loan documentation imaging and file maintenance with the Loan Center.

Perform quarterly OREO and impaired assets (FAS 114) value confirmations.

Support Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL) data preparation and maintenance.

Participate in community and professional organizations to support the Bank’s community presence.

Satisfactorily complete all required compliance bank training and comply with all regulations which apply within the scope of the position.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics required.

Experience: Three to five years of related experience required.

Skills:

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with high emotional intelligence.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly present financial and credit analysis.

Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong critical thinking and a commitment for continuous improvement and quality outcomes.

Ability to effectively prioritize workload, manage multiple deadlines, and delegate tasks when appropriate.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel and financial spreading or credit analysis software skills.

Work Environment:

Work environment is indoors in a clean atmosphere with normal noise levels.

Ability to work under time constraints and pressure is required.

Exposed to a potentially hazardous condition – robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the risk.

Normal hours of work Monday-Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM or as necessary to complete duties.

Essential Functions:

Critical sensory abilities are seeing, hearing/listening, touching, and speaking.

Mental effort requirements include reading, writing, basic arithmetic, mathematics, visualizing conclusions, analyzing data, searching for solutions, creating methodologies, conducting research, and managing resources.

Physical dexterity requirements include operating general office equipment such as telephone, computer, calculator, photocopier, and postage machine. Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Physical requirements include standing for long periods when providing customer service, sitting, walking, and must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs. waist high and 20 lbs. shoulder high.

Travel Requirements:

I understand that even though my primary work assignment will be in the Bozeman West branch; I agree to go to any other location requested by management. I understand that such temporary re-assignment will require the use of my personal vehicle. If I am requested to spend the entire day at a non-primary location, American Bank will pay for my time spent traveling which is inclusive from the time I leave my home to the time I return to my home.  In addition, any time that I use my personal vehicle in such travel, I understand that American Bank will reimburse my mileage at the current designated IRS mileage reimbursement rate.

Pay Grade:  13
