Position Objective
The Senior Carpenter Foreman is responsible for coordinating and supporting complex field operations on active construction projects. This role focuses on advance planning for upcoming work activities, production alignment, field coordination, and readiness for scheduled work to ensure work progresses safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules and requirements.
This position is a senior field role that operates independently within assigned scopes, schedules, and project requirements. The Senior Carpenter Foreman supports project execution through foresight, coordination, and communication rather than direct supervision of personnel.
Essential Job Functions
Field Operations & Coordination
Support field operations across multiple work areas, phases, or scopes of work
Plan upcoming work activities and phases of scheduled work to support short-term production goals and schedule alignment
Identify labor, material, and sequencing considerations and communicate constraints or risks to Operations and Project Management
Coordinate field activities to minimize downtime, rework, or trade conflicts
Ensure work areas are prepared and ready prior to manpower mobilization
Identify emerging field issues early and communicate impacts, options, and recommendations
Provide experienced field support to help maintain daily jobsite progress and efficiency
Planning, Documentation & Coordination
Review drawings, schedules, and scopes of work with an emphasis on sequencing, execution readiness, and coordination needs
Confirm materials, tools, and equipment are staged and available ahead of scheduled work
Verify deliveries and promptly report shortages, damage, or discrepancies
Track daily labor hours and production quantities accurately and consistently
Complete required documentation accurately and consistently, including:
Daily logs
Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
Toolbox talks
Cost coding and field reports
Participate in scheduled production planning discussions with the Project Manager
Attend project meetings and communicate field-driven impacts to scope, schedule, or sequencing
Safety, Quality & Jobsite Standards
Promote a clean, organized, and safe jobsite environment
Support compliance with company safety standards and regulatory requirements
Identify, document, and communicate safety concerns and recommended actions
Observe work quality and report alignment issues with drawings, specifications, and project standards
Qualifications and Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Five (5) or more years of experience in a foreman-level or senior field role in commercial construction
Experience in drywall, metal framing, or interior systems preferred
Valid driver’s license required
OSHA-10 certification required (or obtained within 30 days of employment)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Advanced ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
Demonstrated experience coordinating work across multiple scopes or project phases
Strong ability to anticipate sequencing challenges and production constraints
Experience with jobsite documentation, safety reporting, and cost tracking
Comfortable using mobile field reporting and project management tools
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and exercise sound field judgment
