Senior Buyer

Role summary

We are looking for a motivated Senior Buyer to join our Purchasing team. The Buyer will be a hands-on, operational purchasing professional responsible for operationalizing supplier contracts into purchasing catalogs and forms, handling purchase requisitions and purchase orders, supporting requestors, coordinating purchasing initiatives, and monitoring supplier performance to ensure compliance with the contracts and corporate sourcing strategy and policies. This is a practical, execution-focused role within the Sourcing-to-Pay process. 

Key responsibilities

• Operationalize new supplier contracts into the purchasing tools and process, and together with the suppliers and stakeholders publish the needed purchasing catalogs and forms for end users.
• Process purchase requisitions and convert approved requisitions into POs, and manage end-to-end Purchase Order (PO) activities.
• Resolve PO and invoice mismatches and collaborate with accounts payable (AP), project managers and suppliers to enable timely invoice matching and payment. 
• Perform receiving and work confirmations where required; manage partial receiving and confirm deliveries against PO lines. 
• Monitor supplier performance and compliance, perform supplier sanction checks, and escalate sourcing issues to Category / Sourcing managers. 
• Ensure compliance with Tieto procurement policies and local financial controls; manage change requests and project-related PO adjustments. 

Qualifications & experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Minimum 2 years experience as buyer or purchasing specialist in a medium/large organization. Experience with IT, software and services purchasing is an advantage.
• Experience with Source to Pay systems. Experience with sourcing, contract, purchasing and invoice matching tools is an advantage, especially experience with modern end to end Source to Pay suites like GEP Smart or Coupa is a strong advantage.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — able to work with requestors, project managers, finance and suppliers on different levels.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, multi-tasking capabilities and respect to deadlines.
• Customer satisfaction oriented, self-lead, initiative-taking and continuous improvement driven personality.
• Strong spoken and written English.
