Required Skills
Job Description
We're looking for someone who loves a good problem!
Not just any problem — the messy, ambiguous, high-stakes kind. The kind where the answer isn't obvious, the requirements aren't fully formed, and the people affected are real. If that sounds like your idea of a great day at work, keep reading.
The Role
The Senior Business Analyst: Employer Products sits at the heart of Harambee's Product Development team — bridging the gap between what the business needs, what users experience, and what technology can deliver. This isn't a documentation role. It's a thinking role. You'll be the person who asks the right questions, stress-tests assumptions, and makes sure the team is always building the right thing.
What You'll Be Doing
Dig into business needs — engaging stakeholders across the Product team, employer partners, funders, and the young people we serve to get to the real problem underneath the stated one.
Design experiments and define success metrics that give the team the evidence it needs to move forward with confidence.
Turn ambiguous requirements into clear, detailed documentation — including processes, data flows, and functional specs — that development teams can actually build from.
Close the loop between business, users, and tech: validating that requirements make sense to all three before a single line of code is written.
Keep the Product roadmap honest — working closely with the Product Manager to prioritise what gets built, when, and why.
Surface and document risks, dependencies, and assumptions before they become blockers.
Own the acceptance criteria — and make sure testers have everything they need to sign off with confidence.
Support User Acceptance Testing and help the business land new solutions smoothly.
Lead Scrum ceremonies — refinements, planning, retrospectives, stand-ups — with clarity and purpose.
Continuously improve how the team works, not just what the team builds.
What You Bring
A graduate degree in IT, Informatics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
6–10 years of hands-on BA experience inside an Agile software development team.
Solid grounding in analytics techniques and mathematical concepts.
Proven ability to lead Scrum ceremonies and keep a team moving.
The ability to translate complex findings for any room — technical or not.
Recent experience (within the past 24 months) on products of comparable scale and complexity to Harambee.
How You Work
Situational Awareness: You read the room — and the roadmap. You know when to push and when to pause.
Accountability: You own your work end-to-end. No handoff without a handshake.
Effective Communication: You make the complex simple, without losing the nuance that matters.
Results Orientation: You're driven by outcomes, not outputs. Done means done well.
Problem Analysis and Resolution: You're a systematic thinker who doesn't shy away from hard problems.
Teamwork and Collaboration: You make the people around you sharper. That's what senior means here.
Why Harambee?
Because the problems here are worth solving. Because the team you'll join is sharp, committed, and genuinely collaborative. And because when you get the requirements right at Harambee, a young person somewhere gets a job.
Real Impact: Your work directly shapes the products that connect young South Africans to opportunity.
A Team Worth Joining: Smart, motivated people who challenge each other and have each other's backs.
Room to Grow: We invest in the people who invest in the mission.
A Culture That Walks the Talk: Inclusion, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to doing things right.
Scale That Matters: You'll work on products used by thousands of employers and hundreds of thousands of young people.
