Why this role matters:

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer (API platform), you’ll join a team developing and operating one of ICEYE’s key customer facing API suite. You build new functionally as well as keep the platform stable, observable, and trusted, powering reliable satellite tasking at scale. Your work ensures that customers can seamlessly task their satellite fleet through robust, high-availability on-prem systems that form the backbone of ICEYE’s ISR capabilities.

Your day-to-day responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain support for backend services with focus on customer facing API development

• Own API lifecycle from design to deployment: specification, implementation, versioning, documentation, and deprecation

• Operate and maintain services in production, ensuring reliability, observability, performance, and timely issue resolution

• Collaborate with product managers, customers, and engineering teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, actively contributing to code reviews and architectural improvements

• Apply security and quality best practices across the software lifecycle

What we’re looking for

Must haves:

• Strong experience in backend software development, preferably in Go or a similar typed language, and operating APIs in production systems

• Experience with cloud and on-prem environments, container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code principles

• Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry in high-reliability environments

• A strong ownership mindset with a collaborative approach to problem solving and technical decision making

Nice to haves:

• Experience with authentication and authorization standards such as OAuth, OpenID Connect, and JWT
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as NATS
• Hands-on experience with AI-powered engineering tools.
• Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries without relying on ORMs
• Experience with geospatial data (PostGIS, GeoJSON).
• Interest in space, Earth observation, or satellite operations.

Base salary range for this position is 5 500–7 500 € per month (gross), depending on experience, and will be negotiated individually.
