Senior Backend Engineer at Handoff
You’ll take a leading role in designing and scaling the backend architecture that powers our platform. This isn’t just a heads-down coding role - you’ll be instrumental in evolving our infrastructure, improving developer workflows, and ensuring seamless performance and scalability across our core systems. You’ll work cross-functionally with product, design, and AI teams to build a robust, secure, and highly performant backend foundation that supports both our web and mobile experiences.

What you'll do:
• Design and implement scalable APIs, services, and data pipelines that support mission-critical workflows. Ensure reliability, maintainability, and security across all systems.
• Spearhead improvements in infrastructure and deployment strategies using tools like Kubernetes, Traefik, and AWS. Help us move fast without breaking things.
• Optimize application logic, database queries, and system performance to handle increasing workloads with speed and efficiency.
• Work closely with product, design, and AI teams to deliver backend solutions that support intuitive, AI-enhanced user experiences.
• Provide thoughtful code reviews, share best practices, and help foster a backend culture of quality, pragmatism, and continuous improvement.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and observability systems that empower the team to ship with confidence and clarity.

About You:
• Bachelor's degree (or similar) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years in backend development, with a proven track record of building scalable, high-performance applications.
• Strong experience with Node.js, Python, TypeScript, and SQL.
• Deep knowledge of cloud-based architectures, especially on AWS.
• Solid understanding of Kubernetes, Traefik, containerization, and distributed systems.
• Experience building and mantaining CI/CD pipelines, managing cloud infrastructure, and ensuring production systems run reliably at scale.
• Experience optimizing API performance and database queries, reducing latency and ensuring seamless data flow between backend and frontend.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, you’re quick to adapt to changing priorities and balance rapid iteration with high-quality outputs.
• Proficiency in English is a must.
