The Role
We are looking for an Experienced Backend Engineer to join our growing SaaS platform infrastructure team. The SaaS infra team is responsible for making sure we are ready for our next phase of growth in 2026 as we march toward our goal of delivering a seamless work from anywhere experience for our customers.
As a Senior SaaS Infra Engineer, you’ll be responsible for taking services from design to production while working closely with Product Managers to define and extend the SaaS infra capabilities. You’ll have impact company-wide and will be working with experienced developers, security, DevOps as well as other professionals within ControlUp.

Your Experience and Qualifications:
• 5+ years of backend engineering experience
• Proficiency in Node.js (NestJS/Express) - a must
• Experience with Java (Vert.x or Spring) – a big advantage
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP)
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and streaming frameworks like Kafka Streams, Flink, Spark, or Beam – an advantage
• Familiarity with AI-first development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor) – an advantage
• Experience working in production-aware, observability-driven environments - monitoring troubleshooting, and optimizing
• Knowledge of Postgres, MySQL or similar, Redis, Clickhouse
• Strong foundation in object-oriented design, design patterns, and clean code practices
• Comfortable designing, deploying, and maintaining backend services and data flows
• Passion for learning, experimenting with new tech, and building reliable systems at scale
