What you will do

As a Senior Backend Engineer you are responsible for building high-quality APIs that transform terabytes of data into valuable insights for over 100,000 hotels worldwide. In our Cross Product Services Team, you will work closely with the product team and a talented group of software engineers and DevOps engineers. Your focus will be on developing clean, readable, and scalable code and designing comprehensive solutions.

Where you will have impact

You will develop new features and improve existing functionalities, to drive the efficiency of our internal teams.
You will design, code, and maintain Python and occasionally Go (micro)services.
You will implement and monitor services in a reproducible and scalable manner.
You will work with diverse, complex datasets.
You will experiment with, conceive, and take ownership of a part of our codebase/infrastructure and optimize it.
You ensure high-quality results through extensive testing.
You are part of product scrum teams and create high-quality and efficient APIs.

Technologies you will work with

Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Istio, Python, Django, Cloud SQL (feel free to ask us why these suit us best).

About our team

You’ll be joining a new development team named Cross-Product Services. Their primary goal is to improve efficiency of our finance, sales & other operational teams by automating steps that are currently taken manually. The team will do this by building & improving client-facing product modules spanning the entire Lighthouse product portfolio. Examples are payments, user management, access management, one-click setup, etc. As one of the founding members of this team, you'll have the opportunity to shape its direction and build a strong foundation to further grow the team.The overall engineering team is highly skilled and has hubs in Ghent and Madrid. Who you are

Multiple years of professional experience as a backend developer:

Experience writing Python
Experience working with web application frameworks (Django, Flask, FastAPI, Express. Ruby on Rails, Laravel, Phoenix,...)
You have experience with microservice architectures and a cloud platform (we work with GCP).
You are passionate about efficiency and performance optimization and delivering high quality work.
You have an affinity for challenging the status quo of API design and architecture.
You are an open communicator, in our team as well as with other teams.
You speak fluent English.
