Senior Backend Engineer - Data Marketplace

About the role

Taktile is a high-growth, post product–market fit start-up, on a fast trajectory to becoming market leader in the field of automated decisioning.

As a senior engineer, you will lead the expansion and improvement of our Data Marketplace and integration engine. Critical systems that enable customers to access, evaluate, and combine data providers at scale. These systems process millions of automated decisions every day, and your work will directly impact how banks, fintechs, and enterprises fight fraud, expand credit, and enable financial access.

You’ll bring a proven track record in API aggregators, AWS, and complex backend systems, and you’ll leverage modern practices to ensure reliability, scalability, and developer efficiency. This role is ideal for someone who thrives with autonomy, influences beyond their immediate team, and enjoys raising the technical bar.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and ship high-leverage backend components in Python on AWS - from the integration engine to aggregation/orchestration layers - raising code quality through deep reviews and keeping CI/CD fast and reliable.

• Own outcomes for the Data Marketplace: streamline provider onboarding and evaluation, introduce safe rollout/versioning strategies, and measurably cut time-to-new-integration while protecting reliability and cost.

• Set integration architecture and standards: define clear API contracts/SDKs, testing, resilience patterns (idempotency, retries, backoff), and operational guardrails that scale to millions of daily decisions.

• Lead impactful projects from API discovery and prototyping to production launch—writing crisp RFCs, validating with spikes, aligning stakeholders, and landing changes with observable outcomes.

• Raise reliability and performance: establish SLOs, instrument tracing/metrics/logging, build dashboards and runbooks, and continually reduce latency and MTTR.

• Mentor and multiply others: run design reviews, pair on tricky problems, share patterns and docs, and help the team level up on system design and AWS.

• Collaborate in the open: participate in daily syncs, planning, demos, and deep-dives; partner with Product, Security, and Customer teams to turn real-world needs into simple, robust solutions.

Requirements

• Taktile is a hybrid company with options to work from either our Berlin HQ, or the London or Iasi hub. Taktile will not cover relocation services for this role.

• Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential as we operate in a hybrid environment requiring clear and effective communication.

• Strong engineering fundamentals with a passion for simplicity, quality, and ownership.

Ideal, But Not Required

• Experience with serverless and event-driven architectures (e.g., Lambda, queues, streams).

• Strong observability practices (tracing, metrics, structured logging) for distributed systems.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development and code generation.

• Fintech domain exposure (KYC, credit bureaus, fraud-prevention APIs).

• Experience leading teams or projects (a plus, not required).

Required Experience

• Prior industry experience with Python.

• Prior industry experience with public cloud providers (preferably AWS).
