Position: Senior Backend Developer/Programmer (Mobile Game)
Report to: Team Lead 
Department:  ZQ Game 
Hiring Level: Experienced
Contract length & Type: Permanent 
Location: 5 East 8th Ave, Vancouver, BC V5T 1R6 (fully on-site) [will relocate to 988 West Broadway by end of the year]

Responsibilities

Design, maintain, and develop core server architecture and backend modules, including real-time battle systems.

Collaborate closely with game designers to plan and implement core gameplay systems.

Continuously optimize the server framework, address complex technical challenges, and enhance system performance and scalability.

Identify and resolve potential system risks to ensure long-term service stability.

Maintain high standards of code quality, focusing on readability, scalability, and reusability.

Develop and maintain backend development tools to improve team efficiency and workflow.

Perform other related tasks;

Requirements

5+ years of experience in backend development for online or mobile games.

Proven track record of working on a full production cycle of a strategy (SLG) game is a strong asset.

Expert-level proficiency in C++, with solid understanding of network communication and multithreaded programming.

Hands-on experience with major databases such as MongoDB and MySQL.

Familiarity with distributed systems and ability to provide mature, effective solutions to related challenges.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to manage stress, collaborate effectively, and contribute positively to team dynamics.
