Senior Back-end Engineer

At Robots & Pencils, we’re looking for a Senior Back-end Engineer to drive the functional expansion of a security platform. You will be responsible for building new backend modules to support advanced operational workflows, including real-time data processing and integrations with third-party systems.

This is a greenfield project, meaning you’ll be working on a brand-new application from scratch — defining architecture, setting up repositories, and shaping the technical foundation from the ground up.

You’ll work closely with product and engineering teams to ensure smooth adoption of these new capabilities while maintaining the platform’s high standards of performance, stability, and security.

In February 2025, we opened our new office in Lviv, Ukraine, as part of our ongoing global growth. We’re actively expanding our Ukrainian team and inviting skilled professionals to join us on this journey. You’ll collaborate with a distributed team working on high-impact products with colleagues across North and South America and Europe.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to align implementation with business goals

• Design and develop secure, scalable APIs and service layers for location-based and metadata tracking

• Contribute to defining and building system architecture from scratch in a greenfield environment

• Drive integration with third-party systems such as Okta and Workforce Management (WFM) tools

• Ensure backend performance, reliability, and maintainability

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in back-end development

• Strong proficiency in C#, .NET 8/9, Hibernate, SQL

• Solid understanding of API routing, distributed architecture, and message-based systems (e.g., Service Bus)

• Experience working with Azure cloud services

• Proven track record of building cloud-native applications

• Upper-Intermediate English (written and spoken)

Nice to Have

• Experience integrating with Okta and Workforce Management (WFM) systems or similar platforms

• Experience with web development using JavaScript / Node.js
