Overview

Moneyboat is seeking an exceptional AI-First Senior Back End Developer to play a key role in evolving our next-generation microservice-based Loan Management System (LMS). You will contribute hands-on to delivering feature parity as we migrate from a monolithic platform to a modern microservice architecture, building and scaling backend systems in Go that already process thousands of loan applications daily. You will work closely with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing services that power the core of our platform.

Key responsibilities

• Build and scale core backend services
– Design, develop, and maintain distributed backend services in Go, ensuring they are reliable, fault-tolerant, and built for scale.

 • Deliver high-performance systems – Help keep critical financial workflows fast, resilient, and highly available, with a focus on low latency and operational excellence.

 • Own APIs and service contracts
– Develop clean, robust APIs and backend integrations that support internal products, external partners, and evolving business needs.

 • Guard the platform
– Build with PCI-DSS, GDPR, and FCA requirements in mind; apply strong security, encryption, and auditability across backend workflows in partnership with security and compliance teams.

 • Drive the migration journey – Contribute to the transition from legacy monolith to microservices, ensuring smooth migrations, clean service boundaries, and safe data movement.

 • Raise engineering standards – Improve code quality through thoughtful code reviews, design discussions, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

 • Collaborate across teams – Work closely with product, operations, compliance, and leadership to translate business requirements into robust backend solutions.

 • Integrate with external partners – Build and maintain integrations with third-party providers and critical partner APIs while handling change safely and pragmatically.

 • Support production excellence – Help monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve live systems to maintain strong uptime and customer experience.

Your skills & experience

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with strong backend development experience in high-scale distributed systems.

 • Expert in Go
(Golang) and building backend services in microservice-based architectures.

 • Strong experience designing and maintaining REST APIs and service-to-service integrations.

 • Proficient with Docker, cloud-based CI/CD, and modern deployment practices in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

 • Advanced SQL skills, with strong experience working on high-volume MySQL clusters.

 • Strong understanding of system design, scalability, reliability, and observability in production environments.

 • Experience in fast-moving environments.

 • Strong ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

 • Fintech or payments experience, including familiarity with PCI-DSS, FCA, and GDPR requirements.

 • Expert in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including managed compute, storage, and backend infrastructure services.

 • Advanced proficiency in Kubernetes (K8s), including deployments, service orchestration, and cluster operations.

 • Bonus points for experience with React, front-end collaboration, ML/AI-driven decisioning systems, large-scale platform migrations, or open-source contributions.
