Quick Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Avionics Electromechanical Technician to join our team and contribute to the development of highly maneuverable re-entry vehicles that can loiter in orbit before precision landing on Earth.

Job Description

Turning Space into a Transportation Layer for Earth

Who We Are:

Eras of humanity can often be defined by a dominant transportation mode - horse drawn chariots, ocean going boats, or aircraft. These were spurred by a small group of people rigorously focused on building technology to achieve faster access to more of the world.

We seek to usher in a new era of humanity defined by universal access to the whole globe free of borders and the presence of a routine way from space to Earth. To do this, we are building highly maneuverable re-entry vehicles that can loiter in orbit before precision landing back on Earth.

What You'll Do:

As an Avionics Wire Harness Technician at Inversion, you will play a hands-on role in the build, verification, and integration of avionics wiring harnesses and electro-mechanical assemblies used in flight hardware and test systems. You will fabricate harnesses from engineering drawings and work instructions, including routing, cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, and installing connectors using standard hand tools and test equipment. You will perform continuity, insulation resistance, and other electrical checks to confirm assemblies meet quality requirements, and conduct detailed visual inspections to ensure compliance with specifications. In addition to bench-level assembly and test, you will support installation and routing of harnesses into avionics enclosures, racks, and vehicle structures, working closely with manufacturing, integration, and engineering teams. The role also includes documenting build and test results, recording non-conformances, assisting with troubleshooting and rework, and providing practical feedback on drawings or process issues identified during fabrication. From initial assembly through final vehicle installation, your work will directly support the delivery of reliable space flight hardware.

This role reports to the Director of Engineering, Avionics

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in cable harness assembly, electrical assembly, or related in the aerospace industry.

• Track record of safe work habits.

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.

• Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces.

• Ability to work non-standard shifts, overtime, and weekends as required.

• Position may require extended work hours and weekend work.

• Ability to pass vision/color requirements per NASA-STD-8739.6B Section 5.7.6

Desired Qualifications:

• Familiarity with standards like IPC-A-620, J-STD-001, NASA-STD-8739, or equivalent aerospace wiring quality programs.

• Experience with aerospace or space-grade harness manufacturing and vehicle hardware.

• Familiarity with running HiPot tests and developing test procedures.

• Experience with traceability and build documentation systems (MES, ERP) - Manufacturo, Eplison3, Ion, First Resance, or equivalent.

• Experience supporting avionics qualification campaigns and testing (shock, vibe, thermal cycle)

• Proficient in aerospace PCBA hand soldering and rework to IPC-A-610/J-STD-001 Class 3 and IPC-7711/7721 standards (or NASA-STD-8739), including fine-pitch SMT and through-hole repair.

• Cleanroom, ESD, and FOD compliance experience.

• Start up experience and strong team player.
