The role

As a Senior QA Automation Engineer, you’ll be expected to:

• Support current teams in embedding a test-focused, automation-first approach, whilst delivering products that align with our client’s key business goals;

• Good, demonstrable skills/experience around framework definition (and implementation/roll-out of the framework);

• Assist in the evolution of our new microservice-focused QA strategy, working within a squad but also sharing knowledge throughout the QA community and wider tribe;

• Have the ability to coach and mentor other team members;

• Work within our model, Agile software development.

For this role, you’ll need experience in Agile practice, such as BDD. As a consultant and as a binding part between engineers and our clients, you are expected to develop expertise both in technology and the means to communicate complex concepts and rationale to non-techies. We’ll encourage and support this with frequent opportunities to share ideas internally. We also have consultants who frequently deliver at regional, national, and global conferences.

Must have qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience testing native mobile applications on both Android and iOS

• Strong experience with mobile automation using Appium

• Deep working knowledge of UiAutomator2 (Android) and XCUITest via Appium (iOS)

• Experience maintaining and enhancing existing automation frameworks

• Hands‑on experience with WebdriverIO and TypeScript for mobile automation

• Strong manual and exploratory testing skills specific to mobile applications

• Proficiency with GitHub for version control (branching, PR reviews, good repo hygiene)

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions

• Understanding of test strategy, including risk‑based testing and identifying critical test scenarios

Nice‑to‑have qualifications

• Experience running mobile automation on BrowserStack

• Experience validating mobile analytics (e.g., Firebase)

• Experience testing push notifications, live activities, or integrations with services such as Firebase, Braze, or mParticle

• Experience with mobile accessibility testing (TalkBack, VoiceOver, WCAG 2.0 AA principles)

• Ability to read basic Dart (Flutter framework) for troubleshooting

• Familiarity with mobile CI build tooling
