Your opportunity
The Senior Associate will work in a specialized team consisting of Partners, Managers, and Associates supporting the Business Valuation and Litigation Support practice. They will work on a wide variety of engagements – analyzing, researching, identifying issues, and providing solutions to complex financial matters.
Your major responsibilities
Leads engagement planning by identifying key valuation issues, scope, and methodology for business valuation, damages, and forensic accounting mandates.
Collects, reviews, and independently analyzes financial statements, general ledgers, tax filings, budgets, forecasts, and supporting documents to assess business performance and support valuation conclusions.
Applies critical thinking to various engagements (valuations, damages, forensics)
Applies valuation approaches (income, market, and asset-based) and prepares supporting schedules (normalization adjustments, maintainable earnings/cash flow, working capital, and capitalization/discount rate inputs).
Estimates the fair market value of businesses and/or related assets for purposes including matrimonial litigation, shareholder disputes, transactions, and tax/estate-related matters.
Quantifies economic damages and business losses (e.g., lost profits, incremental costs, or other financial impacts) based on financial evidence and appropriate assumptions.
Prepares financial analyses, models, and graphs to support calculations, including sensitivity analysis and reasonableness checks.
Conducts market/industry and comparable company research to support valuation assumptions and conclusions.
Drafts valuation and damages reports in accordance with professional standards and engagement requirements.
Prepares and manages document requests and track information received to support the valuation/damages analysis.
Communicates with clients and legal counsel to obtain clarification, follow up on outstanding items, and provide status updates to the engagement team.
What we look for
Bachelors degree majoring in Accounting, Commerce or Business
CPA designation
Significant progress towards the CBV designation
Two to three years of public accounting and/or valuations experience
Ability to analyze, and interpret financial and legal documents
Ability to write clear and concise communications and reports
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Must be highly organized and detail-oriented and possess well-developed project management skills
