Qualification: 

• Respiratory/Pain/Digestive Health/Skin Health: Bachelor's and Master’s in Pharmaceuticals  with relevant post-qualification experience in the patent, scientific and/or business research space

Further description: A diploma or certificate courses on IP/patent or registered patent agent qualification would be an advantage

Experience:  1-2 years for A/SA of post-qualification experience in Consumer Healthcare or Pharmaceutical Business Research/ KPO

Min. Qualification required to man the position: M.Pharm/MSc./MBBS/BDS

Min. Experience required to man the position:  Min. 1 years for Associate / Senior Associate

• Gathering scientific and competitive intelligence for consumer healthcare to generate solutions/answers relevant to client’s key intelligent questions.
• Conducting detailed secondary searches for identification, analysis and reporting of project-relevant data to derive meaningful/actionable insights• Typical projects include  market landscape, company profiling, novel product launches, competitor strategy analysis, scientific literature analysis

Execution of short turnaround and long-term projects

Key Responsibility Indicators

Efficiency – Effective retrieval of information by identifying relevant data sources, formulating efficient search strategies, critically evaluate information and organize data for analysis. Developing optimum search strategy, screen and analyse patent families to gather scientific and competitive intelligence for consumer healthcare to generate solutions/answers relevant to client’s key intelligent questions

Experience in performing comprehensive patent searches using various databases (PatBase, Thomson Innovation, Questel (Orbit), Innography, STN database (CAPLUS, DERWENT), Micropatent, etc.)

• Accuracy - Ability to assess validity of sources, accuracy of information gathered, data gaps if any and steps to plug in the data gaps

• Presentation of reports – Good scientific writing with well- structured and formatted content, correct usage of English language, usage of right templates and audience-appropriate representations.

Must have:

• Expertise in secondary research with experience in using databases and open sources.
• Clear understanding and exposure to OTC/Consumer/Pharma healthcare space, demonstrate clear acumen in competitive intelligence, scientific and business research
• Exposure to broad variety of work in the patent research domain including (but not limited to):• Identified key application areas of a given technology to help assess its patentability
• Compared patent pending technology with competing technologies based on cost & ease of use
• Analyzed scope of patents by understanding their claims & reviewing similar patents
• Conducted search for relevant prior art to assess patentability of given technology
• Conducted freedom to operate studies and prior art searches in the field of healthcare/ biotech/ electronics/ software
• Conducting patent mapping for products
• Conducted patent portfolio analysis of a company to determine its innovation strategy
• Benchmarked patent families to identify key patents

• Proven strengths/clear aptitude in performing literature analysis and deriving competitor insights through clinical trials, pipeline analysis, business and market assessment
• Report writing skills - creating reports that offer contextually relevant insights
• Knowledge on MS Office (esp. PowerPoint and basic Excel) and Internet searching skills are mandatory
