Red Nucleus is hiring a Senior Art Director to our Medical Communications team. This role is hybrid based out of our Toronto office.

The Senior Art Director is responsible for producing creative concepts, pitches, presentation materials and other visual collateral while providing mentorship and support to their team of Designers.
The Senior Art Director works with leaders across other departments to coordinate the successful execution of multidisciplinary tactics, including digital and print pieces. This individual is comfortable working in close-knit and collaborative teams with a wide range of skills and personalities.
Responsibilities:
Develop smart and strategic creative that is on-brand and response-oriented.
Apply and uphold brand identity systems on new and existing projects for numerous clients.
Execute designs and develop interactive concepts/projects based on wireframes, copy decks and supplied direction with minimum oversight.
Able to produce accurate poster or print layouts and review the work from Designers.
Able to stand in for the Creative Director during any absence
Capable of presenting to clients and selling through creative concepts/ideas
Collaborate internally with multiple teams to manage and produce deliverables that meet client needs and expectations.
Support team professionally and set an example of our design standards and industry best practices.
Manage and mentor a team of designers.
Clearly articulate ideas and communicate visual style and conceptual direction. Provide reasoning behind design decisions. Prepare thoughtful critiques and constructive feedback as necessary.
Maintain proficiency in all aspects of production to be able to see projects through completion from start to finish.
Stay current on interactive, design trends and emerging technologies with a hunger to innovate. Share knowledge and ideas with the team.
Identify and suggest solutions for resolving technical, creative and workload issues.
Provide accurate estimates to Client Engagement on behalf of team members.
Ensure work always meets deadlines, budget, and quality expectations.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Design or related studies
Experience
8+ years of relevant experience in a design, print studio, or marketing agency.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent leadership skills
A strong portfolio that exhibits conceptual thinking (both visual and interactive), exceptional typography skills and an excellent understanding of design principles.
Strong knowledge of both digital (including mobile) and print production processes experience
Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
Strong understanding of our client’s brand guidelines and the ability to create innovative visual solutions
An understanding of and passion for the life sciences industry
Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with an enthusiasm for pixel-perfect work.
Ability to prioritize assignments based on the needs of the business
Demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, internal and external stakeholders
High degree of motivation undaunted by rewarding hard work
Ability to deliver within deadlines with a strong follow-through on projects and duties
Proficiency in Mac OS working environment, with broad knowledge of Adobe CC and Figma
Compensation Disclosure:
The expected compensation range for this role is $90,000 to $110,000 (CAN). Compensation will be determined based on an applicant’s skills, competencies, experience, and qualifications. Employees may progress within this range over time based on performance, tenure, and internal equity considerations.
