Position Summary
The Senior Architectural Technologist plays a key role in the design and construction process by independently developing and coordinating detailed technical drawings and documentation.
This individual brings strong technical expertise and experience to support project delivery, ensuring designs are accurate, code-compliant, and aligned with construction requirements. The Senior Technologist works closely with the Design Lead, consultants, and project teams while providing guidance to junior staff and contributing to efficient project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Independently prepare and coordinate architectural drawings, including site plans, floor plans, and construction documentation for RFP responses and active projects
Develop detailed building design packages for new construction and renovations with minimal supervision
Coordinate design intent, client requirements, and consultant inputs across all project phases
Support the Design Lead in technical coordination and problem-solving throughout project delivery
Review own work and assist in reviewing junior team members’ drawings for accuracy, completeness, and code compliance
Apply strong knowledge of building codes, zoning by-laws, and construction methods to ensure buildable solutions
Participate in the development and refinement of standard details and specifications
Assist in mentoring junior technologists and supporting team development
Attend and contribute to consultant, internal, and select client meetings
Conduct site visits to review construction progress and align field conditions with design intent
Coordinate file sharing and model management with external consultants using Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
Stay current with industry trends, materials, and construction technologies

What you bring to York
Degree or Diploma in Architecture and / or Architectural Technology
A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience as an Architectural Designer or Technologist
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD with the ability to produce accurate and detailed drawings
Working knowledge of Enscape, Photoshop, and Bluebeam
Possess good written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to work within a collaborative team structure
Able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
Possess a good understanding of local building codes and zoning by-laws
Possess good organizational and file management skills
