Senior Android Software Engineer

Toast is driven by building the all-in-one restaurant platform that helps restaurants operate their business, increase sales, engage guests, and keep employees happy. The Toast POS (point-of-sale) app is the central pillar of Toast’s restaurant products. Millions of servers, hosts, bartenders, and chefs use Toast’s POS daily to serve their guests!

Toast is looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join our Kiosk team. This team is responsible for owning the Kiosk product, a guest facing Android tablet that enables self-ordering and payment at restaurants. The Kiosk team recently rolled out a new Kiosk experience to all Toast restaurants, and now we are looking to further enhance Kiosk by adding new features that will improve the guest experience and increase restaurant operational efficiency.

About this roll* (Responsibilities)

• Work collaboratively with UX, PM, QA and other engineers building the Kiosk Android application

• Develop and maintain Kiosk workflows, including Kiosk workflows for ordering, payments, loyalty programs, and more

• Drive best practices and help choose modern technologies to evolve our current tech stack while writing world-class applications

• Provide design feedback and participate in code reviews to ensure implementations meet requirements

• Ensure that all work done by the team is delivered with quality and is appropriately monitored and supported in production

• Mentor other team members to enhance the team's effectiveness

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

• Highly proficient in all aspects of native Android development with Kotlin

• Proficient in Software Development best practices (Code Quality, UnitTest, test automation)

• Excellent cross-team communication skills on complex technical topics

• Experience with Selenium or Espresso / Screenshot testing

• Familiar with traditional databases and alternative data stores

• Experience delivering high-quality, reliable services to production

• Passionate about building great software
