About the Role:

As a Senior Android Engineer within an Agile Scrum team, you will lead technical design and code quality while mentoring junior developers. Partnering with architects and leadership, you’ll drive the team’s technical direction and ensure the delivery of high-standard software solutions.

Requirements:
What does a day in the life look like?

• Lead and mentor a high-performing development team within an Agile/Scrum framework, collaborating with business stakeholders to ensure technical delivery aligns with commercial goals.
• Architect and optimize high-speed, scalable applications within a serverless AWS environment (Lambda, Kinesis), ensuring peak performance and rapid resolution of technical faults
• Own the end-to-end SDLC—from requirement gathering to deployment—by collaborating with cross-platform teams and researching AI/latest technologies to enhance the Android ecosystem
• Uphold rigorous quality standards through comprehensive peer reviews, proactive bug-fixing, and the continuous maintenance of existing client applications to ensure stability and best-practice coding
• Partner with stakeholders and cross-functional engineering teams to define, develop, and maintain robust client applications that meet evolving business needs.

About You

Essential experience & skills

• Senior Technical Leadership: Tertiary qualified with 7+ years of commercial software experience, including 4+ years leading teams in the delivery of high-traffic, customer-facing e-commerce mobile solutions.
• Advanced Android Engineering: Expert-level knowledge of Kotlin, Android SDK, and MVVM/MVC patterns, with a deep focus on building secure, high-performance applications and clean UI/UX designs.
• Technical Architecture & Ecosystem: Proficient in designing robust architectures (UML) and integrating complex features like GPay/Wallet, App Links, and RESTful APIs, while managing the full lifecycle via Google Play Console and Firebase
• Modern Infrastructure & DevOps: Experienced in AWS serverless environments (Lambda, API Gateway, Kinesis) and CI/CD automation, utilizing Jira, Confluence, and monitoring tools like Dynatrace to maintain system health
• Strategic Communication: A confident communicator able to present complex technical ideas to stakeholders and management, balancing innovation with best-practice to solve problems in complex operating environments

Desirable experience & skills

▪ Jira / Confluence experience

▪ Other Mobile development skills and experience (iOS Swift/ React Native)

▪ Experience with AWS technologies - Lambda, S3, AWS Kinesis and API Gateway, Cognito

▪ Experience with Dynatrace, Akamai etc.
