Senior Android Engineer (Minsk, Belarus)

We are looking for a Senior Android Engineer based in Minsk to join our distributed engineering team.

You will help build core Android components of NRS's new Restaurant POS platform, using Kotlin as your primary language.

You will use AI tools every day as a core part of how you write, test, and review code.

You will work closely with engineers, product managers, project managers, QA, and designers across Minsk, Israel, and the U.S.

This role requires up to 4 days a week in our Minsk office to collaborate with the engineering team, and remote collaboration with the larger team in Israel and the U.S.

Responsibilities:
Development

• Design and develop high quality Android applications using Kotlin, with a focus on performance and reliability

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code

• Use AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude every day to write better code, catch issues faster, and work more efficiently

• Leverage AI tools to help write and maintain unit and integration tests, analyze bugs, and speed up debugging

• Perform code reviews and help maintain high coding standards across the team

• Debug and resolve issues reported by QA and end users

• Continuously improve application performance and user experience

Collaboration

• Work closely with product managers to understand requirements and turn them into technical solutions

• Provide regular updates on project status and deliverables

• Participate in Agile meetings and planning sessions and cross-functional meetings

• Communicate clearly and work well across time zones

• Be available for at least 3 hours of overlap with the U.S. Eastern time zone each day

Required Qualifications:
• 3+ years of experience in Android development using Kotlin

• Deep knowledge of the Android platform, including its internals, SDK, and how it behaves across different versions and screen sizes

• Experience using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude as a core part of daily development and code review work

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and mobile app deployment processes

• Experience connecting Android applications to backend services using RESTful APIs, with some back end knowledge to build or modify REST endpoints in Node.js or PHP and when needed

• Experience with javascript and web technologies

• Basic knowledge of SQL

• Strong problem solving skills and ability to work independently on complex features

• Strong communication skills and ability to work well with teams across time zones

• Good English skills, spoken and written

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Nice to Have:
• Experience with payment devices and hardware integrations

• Experience with SQLite and relational databases

• Working knowledge of PHP

• iOS development experience, especially for cross-platform expansion
