Job Description
The Senior Analyst, Investment Operations will assist in overseeing daily investment operations functions. The candidate will bring experience and subject matter expertise in investment operations to support growth in assets under management and increase investment process sophistication. The candidate exhibits coaching and leadership tendencies and will impart their expertise and knowledge to their colleagues. Team-Specific Responsibilities
Investment Operations
Reconcile UBCIM’s Investment Book of Record (IBOR) to official administrator records across holdings, transactions, cash, and performance, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of discrepancies.
Serve as a trusted primary point of contact on investment operations matters between UBCIM and its client (UBC), external service providers, and internal stakeholders.
Provide day to day oversight and guidance to the Analyst, Investment Operations; review work outputs, monitor controls, and ensure the integrity and accuracy of operational records at all times.
Act as a coach and mentor to colleagues by clearly communicating operational methodologies, promoting best practices, and contributing to the ongoing development of the investment operations function.
Demonstrate thought leadership in identifying, analyzing, and resolving day today operational issues, with particular focus on performance measurement, investment accounting, and cash and trade settlement processes.
Collaborate effectively with management and cross functional teams on initiatives beyond investment operations where operational insight contributes to broader organizational objectives.
Independently lead and execute assigned workstreams within projects and initiatives that support UBCIM’s business objectives, proactively identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and accelerate delivery.
Administration and Reporting
Deliver data and operational insights for Board and senior management reporting.
Own client reporting interactions with UBC, including inquiry management and issue resolution.
Coordinate and respond to audit requests with accuracy, clarity, and timeliness.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree required, Finance, Commerce, Accounting or similar discipline preferred
Deep expertise in fund accounting, custody, performance measurement, and investor reporting, with the ability to mentor others.
Experience driving automation and control enhancements in datacentric environments; AI enablement experience an asset.
Analytical, curious, and risk aware with strong problem solving skills.
Highly organized, adaptable, and effective under competing priorities.
Excellent communicator with proven stakeholder management skills.
Knowledge of systems such as MSCI Total Plan Manager, Canoe Intelligence, Ion Backstop is highly valued but not required.
UBCIM will consider candidates with varying levels of qualification and experience. Total compensation will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications.
This role is primarily an in-office role and as such the successful candidate must reside in the Metro Vancouver Area.
