We’re hiring for our Innovation team, which explores new biometric ideas and turns validated concepts into production-ready algorithms.

In your first months, you’ll explore...

• Our biometric products and research focus areas, including palm-based use cases, face morphing detection, and revocable biometrics
• How the Innovation team operates, what defines a valuable proof of concept, and how ideas move from exploration to internal adoption
• Existing prototypes, datasets, evaluation approaches, and the constraints that shape applied research work, including limited or imperfect data

As you settle into the role, you’ll start contributing by...

• Proposing approaches to ambiguous problems and validating them through research and experimentation
• Building proof of concepts that help teams and leaders make informed technical and product decisions
• Collaborating with Software Engineers who package prototypes into demos, while you own the ML core, evaluation logic, and research outcomes

• Own end-to-end exploration streams, from idea framing to demo delivery

🌍 Working Hours & Location

We prefer candidates based in Bratislava or Brno, where our core R&D teams are located.

We are also open to Europe-based candidates, with the expectation of regular travel to HQ.

What this means in practice: roughly 15–20% onsite, typically clustered around demos or close collaboration phases.

Requirements:
👤 About You

You are an experienced ML engineer who enjoys ambiguous problems and can move from idea to proof of concept with high ownership. You combine research curiosity with pragmatic engineering and communicate your thinking clearly. You thrive in an environment built on autonomy, quality, respect, and trust.

📋 Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on applied machine learning experience, covering both theory and practice
• Experience translating research ideas into working prototypes, including reading papers, selecting methods, and adapting approaches to real constraints
• Proficiency with PyTorch or TensorFlow, plus solid Python engineering habits (readability, testing, maintainability)
• Comfort working in a product-oriented R&D environment where success is measured by validated demos and technical clarity
• Clear communication skills and experience collaborating closely with Software Engineers
• PhD or published research, experience with biometrics or computer vision, experience leading projects or mentoring
• AI builder mindset

At Innovatrics, levels reflect scope, impact, and autonomy, not just years of experience. At this level you independently frame complex problems, choose appropriate ML approaches, and deliver high-quality outcomes with minimal supervision. Depending on your impact, you may focus on deep technical ownership or extend into shaping research direction, mentoring, and influencing technical standards across teams.

Level and compensation are aligned during the interview process based on demonstrated scope & impact.

Benefits:
💶 Compensation

At Innovatrics, we offer competitive compensation aligned with role level, experience, skills, and location.
Salary (indicative, Bratislava-based): starting from €5,200 / month and up to €7,200 / month and depends on the assessed seniority level.

Beyond base salary, Senior engineers are eligible for a company-wide Variable Pay program with a target of 20% of annual guaranteed pay, tied to Innovatrics’ net profit margin and paid based on company performance.

Introduction Stage (~30 min.)

• Recruiter Screen

Team Interview Stage (~120 min.)
We use a single technical round tailored for senior profiles. Candidates may receive a public research paper in advance.

• Technical discussion focused on problem framing, method selection, and evaluation
• Practical collaborative session with the Hiring team on a real-world problem

Final Stage (~30 min.)

• CARES Interview to ensure alignment with our values: Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Shared Mission
• Reference checks and background verification
