Senior AI Engineer (f/m/d)

Your mission:
The AI Platform Team is our innovation driver in the field of Artificial Intelligence. We develop intelligent solutions that take our products and platforms to the next level through machine learning and AI-driven approaches. Our focus lies on building high-performance, scalable features for AI-powered automation and decision-making processes. Your main responsibility will be implementing AI algorithms, integrating them into our systems, and enhancing tools that significantly simplify everyday tasks for our customers and enable smarter workflows.

At JTL, AI-assisted development is not optional - it’s how we build. Engineers on our team actively uses tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI coding assistants as part of their daily workflow. We expect you to bring experience with these (or similar) tools.

Your Responsibilities • Develop and implement AI-powered software solutions that enhance our products through intelligent automation and smarter decision-making. 
• Design and integrate machine learning models and AI algorithms into our existing system landscape – both on-premise and in the cloud. 
• Play a key role in developing modern APIs and backend components that enable and accelerate the use of AI in our products. 
• Contribute your expertise to identify and implement the best AI solutions for our customers in collaboration with the Product Owner. 
• Support your team with technical know-how in evaluating new technologies, prototyping, and transforming research results into production-ready features. 
• Actively contribute to our cloud transformation by designing and deploying scalable AI services. 
• Take the freedom to contribute your own ideas and suggestions to shape the further development of JTL’s AI strategy. 
• Work in a research- and development-driven environment without direct customer pressure or traditional project-based contract work.

Your profile:
• Strong experience in developing complex systems withpythonand a deep understanding of modern software architectures.
• Hands-on experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Data Science – ideally in deploying ML models into production environments.
• Proficiencyin data processing and modeling (e.g., MSSQL, NoSQL, or data pipelines).
• Solid knowledge of modern development paradigms and language features such as async/await, dependency injection, and clean code principles.
• Experience in developing and integrating APIs (REST,GraphQL) into complex systems.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies (e.g., Azure, AWS, or similar platforms) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Basic understanding of frontend technologies (e.g., React) isadvantageous, though your focus will be on backend and AI components.
• Customer-focused mindset with a strong drive to deliver real value through your solutions.
• Analytical thinking, solution-oriented work, as well as teamwork and reliability, are second nature to you.
• Excellent  Englishcommunication skills (written and spoken).
