In collaboration with the Senior Director, Communications, Public Affairs and Corporate Responsibility, the Senior Advisor plays a strategic role in the development and implementation of Transat’s internal and external communications. The role acts as a trusted partner to senior leadership and is called upon to work on a wide range of corporate and commercial files, including issue management and external positioning. The role is also responsible for developing a high volume of internal and external communication tools (e.g., press releases, speeches, Q&As, communication plans, etc.).
Key responsibilities
• Develop and implement integrated communication strategies and plans aligned with the company’s vision, key issues, and strategic priorities.
• Provide strategic counsel to leaders and teams across internal and external communications, commercial and operational issues, public affairs, media relations, financial communications, and issue management.
• Draft a wide range of strategic and tactical content (key messages, press releases, speeches, Q&As, briefing materials, financial results communications, etc.), primarily for senior leadership.
• Prepare spokespeople through briefing documents, strategic counsel, training materials, and support during media engagements.
• Manage media relations and respond to inquiries, while identifying opportunities to enhance Transat’s visibility and the profile of its leaders.
• Lead major corporate projects and events (Annual General Meeting, employee meetings), including planning, content development, timelines, and budgets.
• Oversee media monitoring activities, analyze coverage, and track the performance of communication initiatives.
• Manage the corporate LinkedIn content calendar and collaborate closely with internal teams (HR, marketing, government affairs, etc.) and external partners.
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in communications, public relations, or a related field (journalism, marketing, political science, etc.).
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including a strategic advisory role supporting senior leadership; experience in a publicly traded company is an asset.
• Strong understanding of communication strategies, their impact on business results, and their influence on organizational culture.
• Exceptional writing skills and the ability to clearly articulate and simplify complex content.
• Proven project management skills, strong prioritization abilities, capacity to manage multiple files simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
• Solid knowledge of most recent communication practices and ease with integrating artificial intelligence into workflows.
• Versatility, autonomy, creativity, rigor, sound judgment, and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Oral and written fluency in French and English*
A good knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec. The incumbent will be required to communicate and collaborate frequently in English, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders in Quebec, the rest of Canada, and internationally.
