Senior Accountant (US GAAP | Big 4 Required)

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Accountant to act as a core owner of financial accuracy for a fast-growing real estate investment platform. This role is critical to ensuring the integrity, reliability, and consistency of financial records produced by the bookkeeping team and trusted by leadership. This is not a transactional role. The ideal candidate is deeply accountable, technically strong, and proactive—someone who identifies gaps, enforces structure, and resolves accounting issues before they escalate. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in scaling operations, strengthening controls, and supporting leadership with accurate, timely financial reporting during rapid growth. Schedule & Location

Full-time, Remote

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST

• Candidates must be located within the Americas for time zone alignment

Key Responsibilities

• Review, validate, and sign off on financial statements prepared by Bookkeepers

• Ensure accuracy and consistency across general ledger accounts for multiple entities/properties

• Lead and enforce monthly close review processes, ensuring deadlines are met without exception

• Perform and review complex bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations

• Proactively identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies

• Apply and interpret US GAAP across real estate and multi-entity operations

• Support transition efforts from outsourced accounting to internal processes

• Provide structured, actionable feedback to Bookkeepers to improve quality and consistency

• Partner closely with the Controller and Accounting Leadership on reporting accuracy

• Analyze financial data to surface risks, inconsistencies, and process breakdowns

• Help design and improve internal controls, workflows, and documentation standards

• Assist with audit preparation, reporting review, and compliance support as required

Required Qualifications

• Big Four or public accounting experience is mandatory

• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP (hands-on application required)

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in an accounting or senior accounting role

• Proven experience reviewing and validating financial statements (not just preparing them)

• Advanced QuickBooks experience (or equivalent ERP; QuickBooks strongly preferred)

• Strong Excel skills, including reconciliations and financial analysis

• Experience working with ERP/accounting systems (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar)

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

• Highly organized, deadline-driven, and ownership-oriented mindset

• Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, startup-style environment

• Fluent English (written and verbal)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in real estate, property accounting, or multi-entity environments

• Experience supporting audits or audit-readiness initiatives

• Background transitioning accounting processes in scaling companies
