Job Purpose
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Accounts Payable team. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, managing supplier payments, and supporting the smooth operation of the company’s finance function. The successful candidate will contribute to improving our accounts payable processes and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulation. This position is based in either our Cyprus or Greece office, depending on the candidate’s location.
Key Responsibilities
Process, verify, and reconcile supplier invoices in a timely manner.
Match purchase orders, delivery receipts, and invoices accurately.
Track and prepare payment runs for review and approval.
Maintain and update vendor records and related documentation.
Enter financial data into the company’s accounting system (Microsoft Business Central – formerly Navision).
Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Review and process employee expenses and ensure proper documentation.
Monitor project- or job-related expenses and allocations.
Support internal departments with finance-related queries and processes.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
Assist in preparing financial reports and reconciliations as needed.
Prepares monthly reporting and presents it to the Senior Financial Controller.
Oversees the Accounting Officers team and ensures that the correct procedures as determined by the company are followed.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5-7 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Business Central (Navision) is preferred.
Understanding of multi-currency and cross-border accounting practices.
Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and financial regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and reliability.
Optional Skills
Experience in the maritime, logistics, or technology sectors is a strong advantage.
Experience with electronic invoicing systems and automation tools is a plus.
Participation in process improvement initiatives within the finance function is desirable.
Awareness of industry-specific regulations or tax rules (e.g., IMO standards, Vessels, VAT for maritime services and goods etc..).
