Job Description
Senior Accountant (Hands-On, Full Ownership Role)
About the Role
We are a growing, high-end landscaping and outdoor living company, primarily serving Scottsdale and Paradise Valley. Our work is detail-driven, client-focused, and operationally complex.
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Accountant to take ownership of the day-to-day financial engine of the business.
This is not a support role. This role owns:
Accounts Receivable (AR)
Accounts Payable (AP)
Reconciliations
Month-end close
Cash visibility
You will report directly to the Head of Operations to ensure the financial side of the business runs cleanly, consistently, and without surprises.
What You’ll Own
AR Management
Monitor aging daily and maintain consistent follow-up
Apply payments accurately and timely
Communicate professionally with high-end clients
AP Management
Ensure vendors are paid accurately and on time
Establish and maintain a clear payment cadence
Prioritize payments based on business needs and cash position
Reconciliations & Close
Maintain clean, current bank and credit card reconciliations
Execute a reliable month-end close process
Ensure accuracy across all financial records
Cash Awareness
Maintain visibility into current and near-term cash position
Track major inflows and outflows
Support basic cash forecasting (no over-engineered models)
Financial Discipline
Identify issues early and communicate them clearly
Bring structure to processes without overcomplicating them
What Success Looks Like
AR is current, organized, and actively managed
Vendor payments are predictable and never missed
Books are clean and closed on schedule
Leadership has clear, reliable visibility into cash
Financial issues are surfaced early — not discovered late
Who This Role Is For
This role is a strong fit for someone who:
Wants to own the accounting function end-to-end
Prefers a hands-on role over a segmented corporate environment
Values stability and long-term growth within accounting
Is comfortable working in-office with a collaborative team
Can operate effectively without rigid, pre-built systems
Who This Role Is NOT For
This role is likely not a fit if you:
Are primarily seeking a remote or hybrid position
Prefer highly structured, corporate environments with rigid processes
Are looking to move quickly out of accounting into other functions
Prefer narrowly defined responsibilities instead of full ownership
Qualifications
5+ years of accounting experience (small to mid-size business preferred)
Strong experience with:
AR / AP
Reconciliations
Month-end close
Working knowledge of cash flow and basic forecasting
Experience with QuickBooks Online (preferred)
Strong Excel skills (comfortable working with data, not just viewing it)
Work Environment
We are an in-office, collaborative, and fast-moving team. Our culture is not corporate — it’s practical, accountable, and team-oriented. We work hard, communicate directly, and expect people to take ownership of their role.
Compensation
Salary: $75,000 – $90,000 (based on experience)
Generous PTO, medical, dental, vision, 401k w/ match
Final Note
We are looking for someone interested in a long-term role where they can grow within the accounting function and take increasing ownership as the company scales.
If you’re looking for a role where you can make an immediate impact and actually run something — not just support it — we’d like to talk.
