Main Responsibilities
Devise, develop, promote, and maintain a market-leading grass / flower seeds and turf product range and technology concepts for OAS, within the UK/Export markets.
Assess market trends, competitor activity, and legislative changes to identify opportunities and threats.
Work closely with the R&D team to develop innovative, performance-based products and programs.
Commercialise R&D outcomes and introduce new product concepts to the market.
Develop a coordinated, strategic approach to amenity grass / flower seeds /turf across the Living Landscapes Group, identifying areas for collaboration where advantageous.
Stay up to date with legislation and regulations related to seed products and applications.
Proactively scan for upcoming changes in legislation and identify their impact on product development.
Develop a sustainability manifesto and action plan, ensuring alignment with Group initiatives.
Create novel solutions to address sustainability challenges in the amenity sector.
Support sales teams through joint customer visits, helping to drive sales in key and prospect accounts.
Provide technical education internally and externally, strengthening relationships with customers and sales teams.
Work closely with the Marketing team to successfully launch and promote products.
Assist the Commercial Director with sales forecasting and business planning.
Analyse sales data to identify key areas for growth and strategic focus.
Maintain and develop relationships with key end users, seed breeders, and seed suppliers both nationally and internationally.
Represent OAS at industry events such as the British Society of Plant Breeders amenity crop group meetings and Turf Growers Association meetings.
Develop and maintain beneficial supplier relationships in terms of technical exchange, production, supply, and quality.
Negotiate purchase pricing with the OAS supply chain to maintain cost efficiency.
Conduct price management, setting competitive yet profitable prices for grass and flower seed products.
Ensure pricing strategies align with market conditions while striving to achieve maximum margin.
