The  Security Supervisor I  reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Under the direction of Security Services leadership, this position is responsible for supervising the daily operations of a specifically assigned Security Department duty shift at a particular site.
Day shift , Thursday-Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off
 
Responsibilities:
• Communicates regularly with other shift leadership regarding security needs
• Disseminates pertinent information to assigned subordinate Security team members
• Assists in identifying opportunities and taking immediate action (if applicable) for improvement regarding safety and security issues on their shift
• Assists the Security Services leadership in performing general safety and security monitoring, providing recommendations to ensure compliance with NM policies as needed
• Provides operational oversight of campus specific Video Management and Access Control systems
• Maintains personal knowledge of/with industry standards/requirements and technology trends in healthcare safety and security.
• Completes required operational shift records, reports and pass downs
• Collaborates with various support services teams to maintain a safe environment in NM facilities during their assigned shift.
• Builds and maintains team cohesiveness on their shift.
• Prioritizes the deployment and utilization of security resources to support the patient’s first mission and provide a safe environment for staff.
• Provides an effective leadership role in any investigations of fire, theft, criminal activity and accidents on NM property as needed.
• Cultivates an environment of support and learning for new security team members by assisting with orientation, internal training, providing constructive feedback, IAHSS testing, and annual mandatory education and competencies.
• Acts as a Security Services department reference for shift associates
• Adheres to, and assists, the Security Services leadership with the management of the department and system policies and procedures. 
• Performs other duties as assigned. 
Required:
• High-school diploma or GED
• Successful completion of IAHSS Basic exam within 90 days of hire
• Successful completion of IAHSS Advanced exam within 120 days of hire
• Successful completion of IAHSS Supervisor exam within 180 days of hire
• Maintain IAHSS Basic, Advanced and Supervisor certifications
• Current Basic Life Support Certification through American Heart Association with 9 months of hire
• Successful completion of Northwestern Medicine Defensive Tactics in Healthcare within 180 days of hire
• Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with a variety of individuals including employees, medical staff, patients, visitors, law enforcement and other outside agencies
• Writing skills necessary to complete reports and paperwork that meets departmental standards
• Valid driver’s license
• Physical ability and knowledge of how to operate a motor vehicle
 
Preferred:
• Experience in healthcare security, police work, military service or other relevant service
• Undergraduate degree
• Experience in leading teams
• Valid Firearm Owner’s Identification card (FOID)
