Position Summary
Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Greenville is seeking a dependable and professional Security Guard to ensure the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors. This role is critical in maintaining a secure healthcare environment, particularly within a behavioral health setting.
The Security Guard conducts routine patrols, monitors facility activity, responds to emergencies, and utilizes de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts safely and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine patrols of hospital grounds and interior units
Monitor and enforce safety and security procedures
Respond promptly to emergencies and incidents
Utilize de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques
Assist with visitor access control and patient visitation processes
Document incidents, suspicious activity, and safety concerns
Collaborate with staff, leadership, and external emergency personnel
Support a culture of safety and quality across the facility
Maintain visible presence on units to assist with behavioral management
Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Experience:
Prior experience in law enforcement, corrections, or security preferred
Experience in healthcare or behavioral health setting is a plus

Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm in high-stress situations
Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
Attention to detail and strong observational skills
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Basic computer proficiency
Certifications / Requirements
Valid government-issued ID
CPR Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Behavioral Management Training (provided if needed)
TB test required upon hire and annually
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand/walk for extended periods (60–80% of shift)
Ability to lift at least 10 lbs
Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
Must be able to hear alarms and communicate effectively
Work Environment
Hospital setting with behavioral health patients
Exposure to moderate noise levels and occasional high-stress situations
Smoke-free workplace
