This is an exciting opportunity to join our Surgical Services Department at John Hunter Hospital (JHH), the largest hospital in the district and a major tertiary referral, trauma, and teaching facility. JHH services a population of more than 800,000 people across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, and Port Stephens, providing exceptional care to our community.
We are seeking a motivated and professional Administrative Officer to support our multidisciplinary Surgical Services team. In this vital role, you will contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of our service, assisting consultants, clinicians, patients, and visitors.
In this position, you will:
Provide high-quality administrative support to Surgical Services Consultants and the broader team.
Prepare and type clinical correspondence, reports, and meeting documentation.
Deliver general secretarial support, including answering calls, coordinating enquiries, and managing day-to-day administrative tasks.
Contribute to a positive patient and customer experience within our service.
About You:
Our ideal candidate is self-driven, organised, and passionate about supporting healthcare services that positively impact the community. The successful applicant will demonstrate:
Relevant administrative qualifications and/or equivalent experience.
Experience with medical terminology and clinical typing.
Strong ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently.
Excellent time-management skills and the ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
