River Valley Powersport & Marine in Rochester is hiring a Seasonal Marine & Powersports Lot Technician / Detailer to support our busiest boating and riding season. This position is primarily focused on lot operations, equipment movement, and inventory organization, with detailing and cleanup as a secondary responsibility.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in maintaining clean, organized lots and ensuring boats and powersports units are properly staged, accessible, and ready for customer delivery or showroom display.
You’ll work daily around boats, ATVs, side-by-sides, personal watercraft, and other marine and powersports equipment while playing a critical role in dealership operations.
Position Overview
The primary responsibility of this role is maintaining dealership lots, managing inventory placement, and supporting equipment movement across sales, service, and staging areas. You will ensure the lot remains organized, safe, and efficient while supporting the dealership’s ability to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Detailing duties are secondary and include preparing equipment so it is clean, presentable, and ready for display or customer pickup during peak season.

Primary Responsibilities: Lot Operations & Inventory Management
Maintain clean, organized, and professional sales and service lots
Move, park, stage, and organize boats, ATVs, UTVs, trailers, and marine equipment
Assist with inventory management to ensure equipment is accessible and properly positioned
Support sales and service departments with equipment staging and preparation
Safely operate dealership equipment including forklifts, trucks, tractors, and trailers (training provided if needed)
Properly secure, trailer, and transport equipment between lot, showroom, and service areas
Assist with maintaining overall dealership presentation and lot appearance
Work closely with dealership leadership to meet operational and scheduling needs
Secondary Responsibilities: Equipment Detailing & Preparation
Wash, wax, buff, and detail marine and powersports equipment to showroom-ready condition
Clean interior and exterior surfaces using detailing tools including buffers, pressure washers, vacuums, and specialty cleaning equipment
Prepare new and used inventory for customer delivery
Ensure equipment meets dealership presentation and quality standards
Support detailing team and assist with special projects during peak season
Schedule & Seasonal Details
Seasonal position (spring through summer, with potential extension based on business needs)
Monday–Friday: 40–45 hours per week
Saturdays as needed based on workload
Hours may vary depending on weather, inventory volume, and seasonal demand
Compensation
Up to $25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Qualifications
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to safely move, park, and manage large equipment
Interest in marine, powersports, automotive, or equipment operations
Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
Ability to follow direction and work effectively with a team
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Preferred but not required:
Experience with marine or powersports equipment
Experience with forklifts, trailering, or equipment operation
Experience with detailing, buffing, or gel coat care
Training is provided for motivated candidates willing to learn.
