Position Title: Seasonal Maintenance Worker – Public Works
Department: Public Works
Type: Seasonal (Temporary, up to 6 months)
Wage: $14.50 - $16.25 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
Benefits: This position is not eligible for benefits.
Position Summary:
Clinton City is seeking reliable and motivated individuals to fill seasonal positions within the Public Works Department. This role involves working outdoors as part of a team to support the maintenance and operation of city infrastructure, including streets, water, sewer, stormwater systems, and other public facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform general maintenance and labor tasks such as sweeping, shoveling, debris removal, and basic repairs.
Assist with maintenance of streets, water systems, sewer systems, stormwater infrastructure, and other public facilities.
Use small hand tools and assist in the operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
Clean and maintain city property, including streets, sidewalks, parks, signage, and right-of-way areas.
Assist with tasks such as pothole patching, minor repairs, landscaping, and traffic control setup.
Follow all safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Work effectively with a crew and follow directions from supervisors.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Must be at least 16 years old.
· Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
· Ability to follow instructions and work cooperatively with others.
· Must be dependable and punctual.
· Previous experience in construction, maintenance, landscaping, or outdoor work is helpful but not required.
Working Conditions:
· Work is performed outdoors and may involve exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, and other environmental conditions.
· Physical demands include lifting, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
Seasonal employees may be assigned to various Public Works divisions based on operational needs.
