The targeted hiring range for this position is $14.42 - $19.00 per hour depending on qualifications; however, the expanded salary range provides opportunities for advancement. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and job location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, competencies, experience, and relevant education, training or a combination of these things and market demand. We are seeking a Prep Cook to join our culinary team at the St. James Hotel. As a Prep Cook, you will assist the Chef in preparing and executing delicious meals according to our seasonal menus while maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness, and safety. If you have a passion for cooking, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you.

• Prepare and portion made from scratch foods for daily service 
• Follow State, Federal and Local food safety guidelines
• Be able to follow recipes accurately, including changing quantities, of batched recipes 
• Ensure proper portioning and cooking of all menu items.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment.
• Communicate effectively with the Chef to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Daily preparation of orders as needed on the line.

• Ability to work safely in a kitchen environment.
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques.
• Understanding of standardized recipes and cooking terminology.
• Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, and volume.
• Familiarity with food allergens and dietary restrictions.
• Attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience with kitchen operations and scratch cooking.
• Ability to multitask with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in creating visual food presentations.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
