IKEA Supply is responsible for securing that the product offer is produced and delivered to our customers. We lead the supply agenda across many functions and work together with all business areas, different business units, but also retail markets to secure customer availability in all markets and sales channels at lowest total cost.

As Purchasing Development, we purchase the materials and the production capacity to produce both home furnishing products and food. We have more than 1,200 co-workers global wide and operates in 27 locations, this includes 6 category areas and Wood Supply & Forestry.

Who are we? We are IKEA Services India Pvt. Ltd. - Supply Area South Asia (SASA) is one of the supply areas for IKEA comprising of India, Sri Lanka, UAE and Bangladesh. We produce and supply IKEA products with affordability, accessibility, sustainability, and quality from the region for the global value chain. We work throughout the whole value chain - from supplier to customer. SASA has a rich history of sourcing from the South Asia region for more than four decades.

About the assignment 

As a Production Engineer, you will lead the engineering and quality agenda with the overall goal to improve customer satisfaction.  You are the main contact towards the suppliers in South Asia and work as part of the business team together with the supplier to develop and secure quality and compliance in the production process, handling of quality deviations, and secure compliance to all IKEA requirements. Amongst your responsibilities:  

• Lead the Supplier Development for quality and manufacturing with responsibility to identify and implement actions and execution of the projects 
• Lead implementation of new products at suppliers 
• Evaluate potential new supplier’s production facilities and quality systems, understands holistic picture of the region 
• Secure supplier & product quality/safety compliance  
• Collaborate with global teams within quality matrix to develop IKEA supplies safety and quality policies and performance 
• Leading the continuous improvements agenda from a quality & production efficiency perspective striving for cost out 
• Must be willing to actively search for information and continuously learn from good examples and mistakes.  
• Have the interest and drive to build trust and partnership to reach common goals. 
• Are results oriented and self-driven in ways of working to deliver better products for the many people by working together in IKEA and with suppliers. 
• Build and maintain business relations, have excellent communication skills, be a good team player, be persistent and live our IKEA values.

• Engineering education/background with 8-10 years of relevant experience in plastic manufacturing or polymer processing industry preferred.
• A background in engineering, quality and product/production development 
• Knowledge of plastics, plastic raw materials and polymer applications across a wide scope of products and processes.
• Experience in manufacturing industry, experience in certification and testing globally would be preferred 
• Strong communicative skills in complicated environment with multiple stakeholders, and able to handle conflicts 
• Proven experience in supplier management & project management 
• Proactive approach 
• Professional Certifications (preferred): Lean Manufacturing, Total Quality Management (TQM)

This position will be based in Bangalore, India.
