Position Overview
The Sandblaster and Painter Helper supports the surface preparation and coating operations on steel structures, pipelines, and related assets. This position assists experienced technicians in cleaning, prepping, blasting, and applying coatings to ensure corrosion protection and compliance with client and industry standards. The role requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work in outdoor, industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with surface preparation including cleaning, masking, and sandblasting steel or metal structures.
Mix and prepare coatings, paints, and materials under supervision.
Operate or support operation of blasting and painting equipment, including air compressors, blast pots, spray guns, and hoses.
Perform general labor duties such as setup, cleanup, and moving materials or equipment.
Support coating inspections by maintaining cleanliness and following proper procedures.
Follow all safety policies and procedures, including use of PPE and safe handling of hazardous materials.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Assist in equipment maintenance and report issues to supervisor.
Travel to job sites as required; overnight stays may be necessary.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Prior industrial, construction, or coating experience is helpful but not required.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift 50+ pounds, stand for long periods, and perform physically demanding work.
Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills.
Willingness to learn and follow instructions closely.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with industrial coatings or sandblasting.
Familiarity with SSPC/NACE standards or pipeline coating specifications.
OSHA 10 or SafeLand certification (or willingness to obtain).
