WHAT IS ON OFFER
Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for Three Sample Preparers to join the team in Rustenburg. The position is responsible for effectively preparing all received samples timeously as per Sample Preparations procedures to ensure a high degree of precision and accuracy is achieved from subsequent analytical procedures whilst complying with all SHEQ procedures.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
To be successful at Alfred H Knight the incumbents will need to display the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Responsibilities
Receiving, Identification and registration of samples immediately per client sample submission request in a traceable manner
Preparation of all samples for analyses including filtration, screening, drying, homogenising, splitting, crushing, milling and moisture determination as per Standard Operating Procedures
Safe handling and operation of sample preparation equipment
Reporting any incidents on shift to the Shift Chemist within 12 hours of the incident
Performing instrument checks, balance verifications and recording all relevant data and faulty equipment being brought to the attention of the Shift Chemist.
Carrying out instructions from the Shift Chemist to meet sample preparation deadlines and escalate any problems to the Shift Chemist.
Perform assigned additional tasks according to established priorities and procedures
Updating all the records and logbooks throughout the process of sample preparation and ensuring that they are clearly and easily auditable and traceable.
Ensuring at all times that a high degree of accuracy and precision is applied to sample preparation through verification of balances and scales
Ensuring that agreed daily work schedules and targets are met at all times
Implementation of the ISO17025:2017 quality management system within the Sample preparation section under the guidance of the Shift Chemists
Ensuring the confidentiality of all results at all times.
Ensuring that excellent housekeeping is maintained at all times within the Sample Preparation Section and that samples are stored correctly at all times and are easily retrievable when required.
Carrying out other ad hoc duties as may be requested by the Sample Preparation and Fire Assay Supervisor from time to time

Computer Literacy – Microsoft Office.

Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.

Safety-conscious and compliant with PPE and lab protocols
Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities
Required Qualifications
Grade 12 (with Maths and Science)
Required work experience
Minimum of 3 years working in a Sample Preparation or Laboratory environment (advantageous)
