Safety
• Consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
Performance and Delivery
• Coordinate and maintain Contractor onboarding & Safety Files, this includes but not limited to validating contractor safety files, certifications, and legal compliance prior to site access.
• Monitor safe work execution, lead toolbox talks, participate in inspections, and manage incident reporting and close-out.
• Administer contractor management system, manage site access permissions, and monitor real-time headcount.
• Generate and distribute accurate contractor workforce and safety performance reports.
• Provide assurance support and generate compliance data for audits and governance reviews.
• Facilitate the contractor off-boarding process. Ensure all safety, compliance, and systems close-out steps are completed.
• Implement the required SHE Risk & Assurance system procedures, systems and standards.
• Support planning and implementation of operational SHE Legal Compliance Assessments.
• Facilitate the implementation of an operational audit schedule on critical areas to ensure the elimination of Fatal Incidents, Major Potential Incidents, and High Potential Incidents (AATS, Risk Assurance, incident and Fatal Close Out , technical reviews).
• Review and analyse operational incident investigations, risk assessments and audit reports for quality control and to ensure the Hierarchy of Control is effectively applied.
• Formulation of key focus areas, recommendations, trend and data analysis.
People & Teams:
• Actively engage as a team member in all team processes
Compliance:
• Ensure compliance to internal and external regulatory, legislative and requirements.
• Grade 12
• Tertiary degree or diploma in Technical, Safety, Health, Environment or Risk.
• COMSOC I &11 or SAMTRAC
• Blasting certificate or Trade certificate
• Courses in Safety management systems ISO 45001:2018 and 4500:2018 and ISO 14001: 2015 would be advantageous.
Experience
• 5 years relevant experience in Safety and Risk or equivalent in mining or processing environment
Technical Knowledge
• SHE Incident investigation (Loss Causation/ICAM/RCAT/ SCAT/ AICAT) experience
• Safety, Occupational Health & Hygiene, Environmental Management experience
• Presentation/ Facilitation/ Training
Technical Skills
• Key value drivers across site value chain and interdependence of key levers.
• New technologies and their impact on operational activities within scope of role.
• Business improvement tools and techniques.
• Computer literate (MS Power point, Word, Excel, Access and Projects).
• AFRAD (Accredited Facilitators Risk Assessment Diploma).
• Train the Trainer.
• Auditors courses for Safety and Risk Control management.
• Risk Assessment Techniques experience: (BOW-TIE, WRAC / SWIFT, HAZOP, FMECA, AFRAD).
• Knowledge and experience in incident investigation.
• Basic Firefighting & First Aid.
