L&D Safety Marking Corp. is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Safety Officer to join our team. This position plays a critical role in maintaining and strengthening our company’s safety culture through proactive training, jobsite oversight, and risk management.
This is a full-time, year-round position with overtime opportunities during our busy summer season.
Position Overview
The Safety Officer will divide time between field operations and in-office responsibilities. This role requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to enforce company policies consistently and professionally. Just as importantly, we are looking for someone who can build strong working relationships with our crews — fostering a culture of trust, respect, and approachability. The ideal candidate will lead with both accountability and empathy, promoting safety through connection, fairness, and mutual respect.
Primary Responsibilities:
Off-Site Responsibilities (Average 1–2 days per week)
Conduct jobsite safety inspections
Perform accident and incident investigations
Oversee and support jobsite safety training
Travel to jobsites as required (overnight travel may be necessary)
On-Site (In-Office) Responsibilities (Average 3+ days per week)
Conduct safety training for new hires, including:
Company policies and procedures
Forklift operation
Vehicle operation and safety
Develop and implement safety training materials, videos, and guidelines
Review daily telematics data for trucks and equipment; address compliance and connectivity issues with employees
Perform risk assessments and recommend corrective actions
Investigate and analyze paint-related claims
Coordinate and organize annual spring training programs
Assist with safety-related communication, including management of company social media pages
Actively participate in employee discipline processes related to safety and policy violations
Qualifications
Prior safety experience in construction, transportation, or a related field preferred
General knowledge of OSHA/VOSHA regulations and safety compliance standards or the ability to research and learn
Strong investigative and documentation skills
Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with employees at all levels
Proficiency with computers and ability to analyze telematics data
Willingness to travel and occasionally stay overnight as needed
Valid driver’s license required
