Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our construction sites. This position requires a strong understanding of risk management, occupational health, and compliance management within the construction industry. The Safety Technician will be responsible for implementing safety protocols, conducting inspections, and promoting a culture of safety among all employees.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and establish a safety culture within the project/shops.
Conducts or assists with audits of the project site to verify compliance and identify unsafe conditions.
Maintain documentation necessary to comply with the Site Safety Management Plan, OSHA and other applicable regulations.
Work with Safety Manager to enforce safety policies and procedures that help prevent accidents.
Represent the company in incident investigations, complaints, and recommend measures to prevent reoccurrences.
May interact with OSHA and other regulatory agencies regarding citations, accidents, claims, site visits and audits.
Ensure Job Safety Analyses (JSA’s), Task Safety Analyses (TSA’S), Work Permits, Emergency Action Plans, etc., have been issued and enforced.
Conduct safety meetings and training as requested; conducts employee drug tests.
Conduct incident investigations including interviews and/or emergency response.
Assist with Root Cause Determination and corrective action plan.
Verify that subcontractors are following the Site Safety Management Plan.
Participates in the company’s safety committee.
Interact and communicate with subcontractor safety personnel.
Able to adapt to a flexible, fast-paced, and dynamic work environment consistent with CSFCO’s core values and mission statement.
Qualifications:
Specialized college-level coursework in work-related areas.
Minimum of 3-5 years construction safety experience required.
OSHA 30 Hour Construction Certification, or ability to obtain certifications.
Availability to travel to different worksites as needed.
Valid Driver’s License.
Must be able to pass a background screening.
Must be able to read and communicate in English to understand technical documents, safety procedures, and instructions relevant to job duties. English proficiency is required due to operational and safety communication needs.
Skills:
Ability to write and implement written site safety management plan.
Understanding of construction environment and risks present.
Good comprehension of Health & Safety OSHA rules applicable to construction.
Good understanding of Workers Compensation.
Good Verbal and Written Communication Skills.
Regular exercise of independent judgment or initiative.
Self-motivated, ability to determine where presence is needed without supervisor input.
Ability to use Microsoft Office Products including Outlook, Word, Power Point.
Must be organized and detail oriented.
Must have strong computer and presentation skills.
Must be able to develop and deliver training.
Team player.
Must have experience on heavy/civil construction sites.
Physical Requirements:
Using manual dexterity, large motor skills, lifting, kneeling, squatting, climbing, crawling, stooping, crouching/crawling, turning/twisting, balancing, reaching and handling with varying frequencies.
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly.
Using memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem-solving skills.
