The position will be based out of High Point, NC and candidates should live in the surrounding area.
There will be regular travel to our Wilson, NC plant with travel reimbursement.
The Safety Compliance Specialist will be responsible for promoting a safe and healthy work environment by identifying potential hazards, conducting safety training, organizing safety committee meetings, and implementing safety protocols and procedures. They work to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety enforcement and presence on-site during operations
Up to 50% of time should be spent during the week in the plants, making onsite corrections, observations, and notifications. Will be responsible for sending weekly reports with findings to department leadership
Develop and support the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and corrective actions under the guidance of Safety management.
Implementation of work and directives from the safety team to plant management
Collaborate with each department to create Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for all current and new tasks and SOPs for any OSHA regulated tasks.
Review and update JSAs and SOPs annually or after an incident/near miss.
Help organize and document safety committee meetings and activities.
In charge of plant walks
In-house follow-up of tasks/observations related to walks
Maintain up-to-date certifications, training records, and observations while providing support to directors and managers
Lift truck certifications and scheduling training with onsite Trainers
Lockout certification and training, follow up with maintenance management
Monthly training reminders for plant management
Input and follow-up of observations
Organize First Responder trainings
Assist in the investigation of workplace incidents and prepare basic reports for review.
Distribute and help monitor proper use and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Daily checks on employees regarding PPE and weekly reports about findings
Participate in emergency drills and help employees understand emergency procedures.
Will make sure that management and key employees know their roles regarding the EAP, and perform on-site drills.
Monitor the condition and placement of safety equipment (eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, signage, first aid kits, confined space kit, lift harness, etc.).
Daily/weekly checks on equipment
On-site training for employees on how to use safety equipment
Provide administrative support for safety training programs, including scheduling and tracking completions.
HSI site-specific login support for employees
On-site HSI support for department managers
New employee safety training- specific needs based on the department and PPE used
Shoe voucher updates
Fleet Safety & DOT compliance responsibilities
Work with manager to ensure all driver ride-along training is being completed, utilizing lead drivers when available
Monitor Samsara safety events daily, determine validity of alerts (including false alerts), document dismissed events, and ensure coaching is being done by manager in a timely manner (4 days).
Analyze telematics data to identify safety trends, improve driver performance, and recognize high performing drivers
Verify that Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) are completed and submitted daily for all drivers
Review nudge reports to identify and address unsafe driving habits
The Ideal Candidate Should Have:
