We are looking for a Safety Engineer for Advanced Vehicle systems to support the design, analysis, and validation of safety-critical automotive features. The role focuses on ensuring functional safety and system robustness for advanced vehicle subsystems (autonomous driving, ADAS, E/E architecture, actuators, sensors).
Responsibilities
• Perform functional safety analyses (FTA, FMEA, STPA) for advanced vehicle systems.
• Support system design verification and validation activities to ensure safety compliance.
• Develop system-level architecture with integrated safety requirements
• Collaborate with software, hardware, electrical, and vehicle subsystem teams to integrate safety requirements.
• Develop and maintain safety documentation: architectures, requirements, hazard analyses, verification evidence.
• Identify and mitigate potential failure modes in advanced vehicle components.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Proven experience with functional safety for automotive systems, including ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 (SOTIF).
• Exposure to ADAS, autonomous driving, robotics systems, or vehicle E/E architectures.
• Practical working knowledge of safety analysis methods such as HARA, FTA, FMEA, and/or STPA.
• Experience handling perception uncertainty, including degraded sensor states, sensor fusion limitations, and confidence estimation.
• Understanding of AI/ML concepts in safety-critical systems, including model limitations, edge cases, and validation constraints.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Preferred / Desirable Skills
• Familiarity with mission control and remote operations safety concepts, including teleoperation and fleet-level risk management.
• Experience designing or assessing fail-operational architectures and redundancy strategies for autonomous systems.
• Knowledge of DDS (Data Distribution Service) or similar middleware used in distributed autonomous vehicle platforms.
• Experience with AUTOSAR Adaptive in the context of ADAS or AV systems.
• Hands-on experience with scenario-based testing and simulation tools such as CARLA, PreScan, or dSPACE.
• Familiarity with ISO/PAS 8800 and emerging standards related to AI safety in road vehicles.
• Exposure to safety-focused knowledge graphs or structured safety argumentation frameworks.
