Rural Generalist Registrar / Medical Officer Private Practice (MOPP), Regional Queensland
Are you looking for a role where you can enjoy genuine clinical variety, build broad rural experience, and become part of a welcoming regional community?
An excellent opportunity is available for a Medical Officer Private Practice (MOPP) to join a regional Queensland health service, with commencement available as soon as possible.
This is a unique position combining hospital-based medicine with general practice, offering the chance to work across both inpatient and outpatient settings while also contributing to a GP clinic located within the same facility. You will work closely with the Medical Superintendent Private Practice (MSPP) to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality care, while participating in a 24-hour on-call roster to help ensure continuous medical coverage.
About the role
In this position, you will provide medical services across:
• Inpatient and outpatient care within a regional health service
• A general practice clinic operating within the same building
• A rural and regional community that values accessible, high-quality healthcare
This role would suit a doctor who enjoys a broad scope of practice, is keen to further develop their rural skills, and values working in a supportive regional setting.
About you
To be considered, you will ideally have:
• MBBS or equivalent and eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
• Enrolment in, or acceptance into, a Specialist General Practice training program that will enable access to a provider number and Medicare benefits for private practice
• Current ALS and APLS certification
• Ongoing participation in an appropriate Continuing Medical Education (CME) program
Doctors with emergency medicine experience who are interested in training towards vocational registration are also encouraged to apply, particularly if eligible for the Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RVTS).
The following would be highly regarded:
• Intention to work towards, or already holding, FACRRM or FRACGP
• Skills in Emergency Medicine, or a commitment to further develop these skills
• Experience or interest in general practice procedures, including minor operations and skin lesion removal
• Some prior exposure to emergency obstetrics (non-procedural)
What’s on offer
This position offers a total remuneration package of up to $261,699 p.a., including:
• Base salary of $182,106 - $193,468 p.a.
• 12.75% employer superannuation
• 17.5% leave loading
