A HigherEd Nonprofit in the heart of DC, is currently seeking a Full-Stack Ruby on Rails Engineer to join their Product Development team. Using the latest technologies- this team is responsible for building a social media platform that will be used by Millions of people Nationwide.

Technology Stack- BackboneJS, RoR, AWS

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop prototypes and various online projects.
• Deliver concepts and apply rapid ideation and problem solving skills.
• Collaborate with multiple departments and individuals to develop an optimal end product
• Track industry trends, customer needs, and business requirements
• Teach and Learn: participate in Design and Code Reviews, participate in group project evolution, learn new languages and technologies and help grow a thriving, engaged development team.

Experience/Skills:

• In depth knowledge of HTML5, CSS/LESS, Javascript, jQuery, Backbone, and frameworks experience
• 2+ years’ experience in Ruby application software programming

• 3+ years’ experience in front-end development

• LAMP application programming/integration experience

• Proficiency in source code management practices, such as SVN or Git

• Strong presentation, oral and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate, influence, and resolve issues effectively

• Familiarity with REST services utilizing JSON, JSONP, and XML
