Release Train Engineer should be able to create the environment for a team to deliver value, be highly independent, confident in their abilities and flexible enough to adapt to an evolving landscape.
• Organize and facilitate key ART ceremonies, including PI (Program Increment) planning, daily stand-ups, system demos, and retrospectives.
• Oversee the Release Planning & Execution of program-level objectives, ensuring that work progresses according to schedule and quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement at the program level by identifying areas of process inefficiencies, implementing corrective actions, and fostering a culture of lean and agile practices.
• Facilitate ART Performance Tracking and report progress, performance, and metrics related to ART delivery, including burndowns, velocity, and quality indicators.
• Promote and enforce SAFe best practices within the ART, ensuring alignment with the agile principles and goals and enabling leadership and teams to become high performing.
• Assisting the self-organizing, self-managing ART to achieve its goals.
• Responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of large-scale initiatives, guiding teams through SAFe practices, and driving continuous improvement through Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and Value Stream Integration (VSI).
• Collaborate with Product Management, and development teams to ensure that the ART is aligned in terms of release goals, schedules, and requirements.
• Handle the escalations and conflict within the teams.
• Experience working with geographically dispersed clients.
• Excellent communication and articulation skills.
Key Skills required:
• Typical Experience: Total 9-15 years IT experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Hands on experience as Release Train Engineer or in a similar role within a scaled agile framework for at least 4+ years.
• Hands on experience in waterfall, hybrid, and agile projects
• Experience in using Scrum, Kanban, Lean Agile & DevOps.
• SAFe RTE or Leading SAFe or equivalent certification.
• Other relevant certifications (e.g., SAFe Scrum Master, SAFe Program Consultant) a plus.
• Bachelors in engineering / MBA.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage conflict constructively.
• Knowledge and experience of other agile, lean and DevOps approaches (e.g., XP, Kanban, TDD, continuous integration, continuous delivery, automation, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent coaching and mentoring skills
