This role is based in Mokopane, Limpopo.
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• To undertake regular slope monitoring inspections to monitor compliance to the Codes of Practice and Procedures and to identify areas with possible slope instability.
• Carry out appropriate Rock Engineering measurements.
• Liaise with the Foreman’s, Shift Supervisors and Pit Superintendents on shifts.
• Input relevant data into plans and layouts.
• Monitor underground conditions and report to the Strata Control Officer.
• Guideline supervision in standards for section safety and performance.
• Audit mining standards for support and pillars to ensure conformance.
• Participation in the investigation of relevant Rock Engineering related incidents and accidents.
• Support the Strata Control Officer with rock engineering information to compile reports.
• Do regular RMRs during underground visits to build up a database.
• Gives training to the operations personnel in basic Hazard Identification.
• Monitors and reports stability of open pit slopes.
• Assist with testing of new support products.
• Attends training courses as prescribed by the responsible Rock Engineer
• Receptive to on-the-job training
This role is at a Band 8 level reporting to the Section Rock Engineering.
• Grade 12 with minimum 50% in Maths and science
• Diploma/Degree in Mining or Geology will be advantageous
Experience required
• 1-year experience in Mining or Technical environment
