Compensation:
• Salary Range: $97,000 – $135,000+ annually (based on experience)
• Annual Bonus: Eligible
• Sign-On Bonus: Case by case
• Relocation Assistance: Case by case
Overview
A high-performing acute care hospital in Margate, Florida is seeking an experienced RN Director of Neonatal Intensive Care to lead a Level III NICU. This role provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for a high-acuity neonatal program with strong physician partnership and a hands-on leadership expectation.
This is a working director role requiring recent direct clinical NICU experience and the ability to support patient care as needed.
Responsibilities
• Direct and manage all operational, clinical, and administrative functions of the NICU
• Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based neonatal care
• Lead quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives
• Maintain accountability for department productivity, staffing, and budget performance
• Provide hands-on clinical support as required to meet patient care needs
• Serve as liaison between patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
• Develop and mentor NICU leadership staff, including Clinical Nurse Coordinators
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards
• Optimize resource utilization to support operational efficiency and cost control
• Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and clinical excellence
Required:
• Active Florida RN license or compact RN license (Florida eligibility required)
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• BLS certification (or obtain within 30 days of hire)
• NRP certification (or obtain within 90 days of hire)
• STABLE certification (or obtain within required timeframe)
• Minimum 3 years of recent NICU Director experience in an acute care setting
• Direct, hands-on NICU clinical experience within the last 3 years
Considered:
• Strong NICU Nurse Managers with 4–5 years of leadership experience from a high-performing Level IV NICU
Scope of Responsibility
• Level III NICU
• 17 NICU beds
• Approximately 1,500+ births annually
• Estimated daily census: ~12
• Oversight of NICU team including 4 Clinical Nurse Coordinators
