Risk Monitoring Analyst

The role:

As a Risk Monitoring Analyst you will report into the Risk Team Lead and will work within the Risk Team to help execute Paddle’s Risk Strategy.

This position requires someone who can think outside the box, has a “can do” attitude, has strong risk experience in ecommerce/FinTech/SaaS, and has willingness to learn and adapt in the ever changing world of risk and payments.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include reviewing alerts generated by our transaction monitoring solutions and other alert systems. You will investigate these alerts, open and conduct investigations into different suppliers, and take appropriate actions to protect Paddle from risk. You will need to be comfortable making decisions (at times based on limited information). For more complex investigations, you will prepare reports with recommendations for the Onboarding and Risk Manager.

Outside of your day-to-day responsibilities, you will be expected to help identify areas for improvement around our risk processes.

This role is based in Toronto, Canada.

What you'll do:

• Investigate alerts generated by our third-party vendors, alert systems, and transaction monitoring solutions

• Conduct complex risk investigations, and escalate instances of fincrime requiring a SAR

• Monitor chargeback data to identify emerging trends and risks

• Work directly with suppliers to proactively resolve risk related flags

• Liaise with external authorities to provide requests for information

• Collaborate with internal teams regarding customer inquiries or Risk related issues

• Make confident judgement calls based on limited information

• Communicate in a clear and concise manner

• Assist with applying Card Scheme rules and global payment legislation

• Support the Onboarding teams with complex cases

• Continuously evaluate and provide feedback to improve risk processes and workflows.

We'd love to hear from you if you are:

• At least 2 years working in Risk or Underwriting (ideally within Merchant Acquiring, E-Commerce, SaaS or a similar role at a FinTech)

• You have experience reviewing web monitoring alerts (for example, EverCompliant, Webshield or G2)

• You have experience reviewing alerts related to chargebacks, transaction-laundering and fraud.

• You are familiar with the specific risks associated with SaaS

• You have experience working with businesses to resolve risk related flags

• You have experience reviewing PEPs & Sanctions alerts

• You put a high value on accuracy and completeness of work

• You have the ability to communicate clearly, sensitively and effectively with customers while investigating suspicious activity

• You have strong data analysis and investigative skills

• You are proactive in learning new processes and procedures, and adapting to changing environments while continuously seeking efficiencies.
